In addition to teaching, I am active as a freelance solo and collaborative pianist. I have extensive church experience (as a pianist and organist); I accompany students for festivals, competitions, recitals, and auditions; I've been the accompanist for numerous choirs and musical theater groups; and I've enjoyed playing keyboard and guitar in local bands as well.
After 30 years, I'm still grateful to be in the teaching profession. By its nature, teaching never stays the same. I get to learn and evolve as a piano teacher every day, and it's hard to think of greater rewards than the satisfaction of helping nurture a student's love and appreciation of music; and perhaps even more, watching students' confidence and self-esteem grow as they learn to express themselves through playing the piano. Nothing engages the mind, body, and spirit more completely than making music, and it's my job to help everyone realize the joy that making music can bring over a person's lifetime!
